Why I like to paint

I used to draw a lot when I was a child but when I went to school you could not choose art or science. When I had children I started drawing with them and rediscoved my love for art. I took up some lessons in drawing and painting and soon discovered how relaxing it was.

My work space

I like to paint in the main living area rather than being in a room on my own. My husband made me this fabulous art desk using Ikea drawers and a kitchen bench top. I also have a wider set of drawers to store my paper.

My Watercolour Palette

I use the Windsor and Newton professional range of water colours. The colours in my palette are:

• Reds: Scarlet Lake, Permanent Rose
• Blues: French Ultramarine, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue
• Yellows: Cadmium Yellow, Aureolin
• Greens: Cobalt Turquoise, Viridan
• Earth Colours: Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber
